Working Group 1 - Educational Opportunities

The Educational Opportunities Group will developed the following outputs:

Training Courses and Professional Development for Social Work Actors
The training courses will address social work teachers and professionals in order to develop social work education in all European countries. The aim to develop core competences for European social work and help social workers achieve this will be addressed through professional development courses. The courses intend to integrate both knowledge of social work practice with experience of pedagogical matters within higher educational training. A minimum of six three/four day courses will be given during a period of 3 years. The courses will be open for approximately 25-50 participants from the network. They will also include local social work representation for dissemination and the generation of new regional or topic specific knowledge.
The courses will be given in different regions in Europe and will be set up by partners from different countries. The courses will be held in a broad range of thematic topics from social policy, social work methods and skill training. The courses will be held in English though interpreters may be used to improve access. In order to be sensitive to the needs and open for suggestions from the European partners the final topics will be decided after the first annual meeting.

International courses in Social Work for European Students
In order to enhance the European idea of social work, access to a common social work curriculum plan will be offered to approximately 100 students from all European countries, annually. Representatives from social work across the world will be invited to participate. The learning methods will include: group and experiential methods, case-study and textual learning, self directed learning, e-learning and extended reflexive participation activities such as multi-method Summer Schools. Methods will highlight inclusivity, proactiveness and mutual exchange. Teachers and students from all partner institutions will be involved and will improve the tuning activities.
